Idaho Digital Learning Turns to ReadSpeaker to Bring Online Text to Speech to Students Statewide

Idaho Digital Learning, who works in partnership with Idaho school districts, today announced that it was making its courses available in audio format using ReadSpeaker’s online text-to-speech service. This initiative further increases access and equity for students statewide.

ReadSpeaker is leading the way in making online text to speech a common service for learning in order to reach as many students as possible. ReadSpeaker speech-enables online educational content, including textbooks and course materials, making them more accessible to students with cognitive issues, learning difficulties, and/or vision problems.

As a teaching and learning aid both online and in the classroom, ReadSpeaker gives all students the option to listen to coursework via their computers, mobile phones, or tablets. Students do not have to download any extra software; they simply click and listen to the content of their courses.

ReadSpeaker’s most popular product, ReadSpeaker Enterprise™ Highlighting, helps learners better understand online educational content by speech-enabling and highlighting it at the same time. In this way, it allows for bimodal learning, which is proven to increase student retention, comprehension, and memory.

“At Idaho Digital Learning, we are always searching for innovative ways to improve the quality and accessibility of our online courses to meet the diverse needs of our student population. Readspeaker provides a great technology solution to enhance accessibility and to improve the overall quality of our products. We are really excited about adding this new functionality to our catalog of courses” said Mike Caldwell, Idaho Digital Learning Director of Program Development.

“We are proud to help Idaho Digital Learning bridge the digital divide by providing students statewide with another way to access online courses. Our cloud-based text-to-speech solutions align with Idaho Digital Learning’s goal which is to provide choice, accessibility, flexibility, quality and equity in curricular offerings,” said Joop Heijenrath, ReadSpeaker Cofounder and responsible for ReadSpeaker’s business operations.
