Smart mobility solutions are a key focus for ReadSpeaker. The company became a member of the International Association of Public Transport – UITP (Union Internationale des Transports Publics) in March 2019. Today, we are delighted to announce that the UITP has increased the accessibility of its text content on its website by adopting ReadSpeaker’s text-to-speech technology.
ReadSpeaker is proud to bring its expertise in text to speech to the worldwide network that brings together all public transport stakeholders and sustainable transport modes. We look forward to engaging further with international transport community leaders to support the further enhancement of accessibility and smart mobility solutions.
ReadSpeaker text-to-speech technology allows content available on the UITP web site’s News section to be read aloud regardless of whether it’s accessed on desktop, tablet or mobile. The text to speech is enabled through Readspeaker webReader, a tool that instantly converts digital content to audio.
Visitors to the UITP News site can simply click on the “Listen” button to have the text read aloud in a natural-sounding synthetic voice and simultaneously highlighted. This bimodal presentation, which allows the online viewer to listen while reading along with the highlighted text, helps to improve comprehension and increases autonomy for readers of all types and backgrounds, and particularly those with visual impairments or literacy difficulties.
The UITP’s core values – innovation, respect, sharing and expertise – resonate with the principles that drive ReadSpeaker to deliver the highest quality text-to-speech solutions for service providers in the transportation, public announcements, information and conversational systems sectors.
