IMS AwardsReadSpeaker and The Virtual High School were awarded Honorable Mention at the Learning Impact Awards in Atlanta Georgia on May 4-7, 2015. The prestigious Learning Impact Awards recognize the best, most influential uses of technology worldwide in support of learning, and which address the most significant challenges facing global education today. The Learning Impact Awards aim to identify repeatable implementation of “efficient IT” practices, helping institutions increase access and engagement, create personalized learning environments, and improve actionable assessment. The awards are hosted by the IMS Global Learning Consortium, and are judged by a panel of experts. A small group of finalists, including ReadSpeaker’s integration into the Virtual High School’s learning management system, were selected in January 2015. Inclusion as a finalist was based on the exemplary implementation of technology that demonstrates the greatest impact for learning, and has the greatest potential for generating a positive ROI. Each submission was then judged on the following learning impact criteria: access, affordability, quality, adoption, accountability, organizational learning, interoperability and innovation. ReadSpeaker and the Virtual High School’s long standing partnership and implementation of ReadSpeaker’s text-to-speech solutions are an exemplary case of how educational technology can improve learning outcomes, increase motivation and self-esteem in a cost efficient and effective way.
