The annual Blackboard Teaching and Learning Conference takes place this year in the north of the Netherlands– at Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, to be more specific.
According to Blackboard, the conference is dedicated to furthering best practices, innovative uses of technology in education and technology enhanced learning. It brings together education leaders, heads of teaching and learning, educators, course designers, IT managers and e-learning specialists from across the world to share experiences, exchange ideas and network with their peers.
ReadSpeaker is both sponsoring and exhibiting at this conference. Stop by the booth from 6-8 April to speak with a representative. Additionally, ReadSpeaker co-founder Joop Heijenrath will be giving an interactive presentation:
Text to speech in the VLE
Time: 10:30-11:15 | Room: Engels
More often than not, accessibility isn’t considered as a part of the VLE until required. We’ll discuss the importance of accessible design, and how text to speech can help increase accessibility, while improving learning outcomes for all. Accessibility in course design isn’t limited to throwing in speech functionality. Course materials must be designed for optimal text to speech functionality. Our building block for Blackboard is developed to increase accessibility. We will discuss what makes a course and its materials accessible, what pitfalls to avoid, and how text to speech benefits all. Not attending but still interested in finding out how you can use ReadSpeaker in your Blackboard environment?
