On May 18 and 19, ReadSpeaker Australia will be attending the 2015 ALGIM Web & Digital Symposium in Christchurch, New Zealand. ALGIM, the Association of Local Government Information Management, provides best practice information to the local government ICT sector, as well as representing the national and international interests of the information, communication and technology (ICT) sector within New Zealand’s city, district and regional councils. Richard Ings, ReadSpeaker Australia Managing Director, will be giving a talk on May 19 entitled “When Websites Talk, Who is Listening?”. This talk will discuss how text-to-speech technology is applied by web managers and used by the public, with a special focus on case studies across government of the implementation of text-to-speech functionality for the public and how such services are utilised. Additionally, on May 20th, ReadSpeaker will attend A111y Bytes in Canberra. This is the first A111y Bytes in Canberra; the city will be joining Sydney and Melbourne in the celebration of Global Accessibility Awareness Day. ReadSpeaker will be discussing how adding text to speech to websites increases digital accessibility in a short presentation.
