Breakout Session: Riding the Pony Express – The Expressway to Engaged Students Using UDL Date and Time: Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 9:00 A.M. | Location: Ivy 1 At this year’s Texas Distance Learning Association’s Annual Conference, join us for a presentation and lively discussion on how various Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and text-to-speech (TTS) technologies are currently driving innovation in the classroom. In a world of mobile devices and easy access to the Internet, educators are still experiencing high attrition rates. To help solve these challenges, Dr. Sheri Hutchinson, Educational Development Manager at ReadSpeaker and Dr. Trish Trifilo, Director of Waylan Baptist University’s WBUonline have developed an interactive presentation about the various UDL-driven tools and technologies available to engage students. They will walk their audience through how solutions such as text to speech can be embedded directly into the online classroom experience and enhance the learning experience for students to improve their reading comprehension, fluency, accuracy, and concentration.
