ReadSpeaker’s CEO and Founder, Niclas Bergstrom, will be participating in Take Part, a conference in Stockholm, Sweden, from May 16-18, 2016. Niclas will speak about automatic production and embedding of speech in EPUB 3 on Wednesday, May 18th, in the afternoon. ReadSpeaker will also be exhibiting at the conference at stand 3.
Take Part 2016
Prince Carl Philip of Sweden is attending Take Part on Tuesday, May 17th, and will sit in on seminars and the conference exhibitions that day. The Prince has a great interest in the conference and has spoken openly about his dyslexia at another conference, hosted by the Swedish National Agency for Special Needs Education and Schools in 2015. Microsoft is also “taking part” as one of the conference sponsors. In 2009, Microsoft formed the Cross Disability (XD) Employee Resource Group (ERG), which represents employees with conditions such as hearing loss, blindness, visual impairments, ADD, mobility disabilities, and dyslexia.
ReadSpeaker and EPUB3
Before, automatic creation of Digital Talking Books (DAISY Generator) using text to speech was a challenge due to lack of electronic sources from publishers. Today more and more content is “born digital” and uses open and powerful standards such as EPUB3. EPUB 3.0.1 is the latest version of the EPUB format, a widely used and flexible format for representing digital publications. EPUB 3 is based on the latest HTML5 standard, which means EPUB publications can now contain video, audio, and interactivity, just like websites in modern browsers. ReadSpeaker offers various solutions for speech-enabling EPUB3 publications, for offline as well as online reading, using high quality text-to-speech products and services. Attend the conference and learn more from Niclas on how ReadSpeaker enhances EPUB3 files by adding text to speech to create talking books. Or you can stop by the ReadSpeaker stand (n°3). #takepartSTHLM
