Speech Synthesis Markup Language (SSML) Support for ReadSpeaker SCAPI and PAPI

ReadSpeaker now offers support for Speech Synthesis Markup Language (SSML) for ReadSpeaker’s speechCloud API and Production API products.

SSML is a standardized markup language for speech synthesis applications. It is an industry standard and recommended by W3C. With SSML, the user has more control over how the text is read by the TTS engine, specifically the prosody of the speech. When activated in a speechCloud API or Production API account, SSML can be used to insert pauses/breaks of certain length, insert phonetic transcriptions and switch voices and languages in the same text. The speech can be fully customized according to the user’s needs.

For example, SSML is often used in embedded text to speech for telephony systems and in desktop applications.
