Whether for K12, higher education or corporate learning, many grants and funding are awarded to help schools, universities, colleges, foundations and organizations equip themselves with assistive technology and accessibility support.

This is the case with our text-to-speech solution and more particularly for:

  • ReadSpeaker TextAid – A literacy software using read-aloud technology to allow students to listen to audio while following along with highlighted text.
  • ReadSpeaker for LMSs – Canvas, Brightspace, Blackboard, make any LMSs or assessments platforms accessible with Readspeaker text-to-speech.

GRANTS & FUNDING

FEDERAL ENTITLEMENT PROGRAMS

US Department of Education funding to State Education Agencies (SEAs) which in turn provide funds to the Local Education Agencies (LEAs) or school districts.

> Title I, parts A, B, C
Provides funds for districts considered most at-risk, which can include in-school and supplemental programs to low income and migrant students.

> Title II D- Enhancing Education through Technology (EETT)
Aims to improve elementary and secondary academic achievement through technology and technology literacy.

> Title III
This program provides funds for instruction of English Language Learners (ELL).

> IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act)
Provides funds for special education for students aged birth to 21 including assistive technology tools as deemed appropriate to their special needs.

> Title IV, part B- 21st Century Community /Learning Centers
Provides funds for effective before and after school activities for remedial education and ELL to improve achievement.

> Title VI, Rural and Low Income School Program
Provides funds for the training of special need teachers and educational technology.

> Striving Readers
Provides funds for programs to rate literacy levels in Title I schools.

> Gear Up
Provides funds to support high poverty middle and high schools.

> TRIO – Upward Bound
This program’s goal is to increase the number of low income students graduating and enrolling in post secondary education.

COMPETITIVE / DISCRETIONARY GRANTS

Grants which are funded on a competitive application process and are awarded to the applications which best address the program’s goals.

> Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) Educational Technology & Media
Grants for programs that provide accessible educational materials to children with disabilities.

> Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) – Assistive Technology
Supports the implementation of assistive technology for individuals of all ages with disabilities.

> Special Education Studies and Evaluation
Supports studies and assessments of early intervention services and public education to children with disabilities.

> Investing in Innovation
Supports local agencies and non-profits in implementing programs to improve student achievement, closing achievement gaps, decreasing dropout rates, increasing graduation rates, increasing college enrollment and completion rates.

> Demonstration and Training Programs
Supports activities that increase rehabilitation services under Section 303. These activities can include literacy demonstrations, Braille Training and technical support.

> School Improvement Grants (SIG)
State Educational Agency grants to Local Educational Agencies for training achievement in lowest performing schools.

> Current Discretionary Grant Competitions

Yes, there are many grants to help purchase technology such as the CARES Act and Perkins Grant.

Follow the links on this page or contact the grants administrator at your institution.

We can’t apply for you, but we can provide the information that you need to use in your grant proposal.

Each grant varies and will depend on your institution’s situation and needs.

In most cases you cannot combine grants, but there may be cases where you can purchase one RedSpeaker product through one grant and a different ReadSpeaker product through a different grant.
